Our lakefront house is located in Wells, NY directly on Lake Algonquin. The address is 116 Little Amsterdam Rd. The house sits on 3/4 of an acre with great views of the lake. The house has three bedrooms. One bedroom has a queen size bed, the second has a double, and the third bedroom has twin bunk beds and a twin bed. The living room also has two pullout couches; one twin; one queen. The house has one bathroom with tub/shower combination. The house is fully equipped including dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator and gas stove. It has central heat, central AC and a wood stove. There is cable TV, high speed internet (bmurphy2090_5G, password 5187589647) and a landline 1-518-924-4044 for emergency use. Cell service is also good in the immediate area. Renters should provide their own personal goods, towels, linens and paper products. There is a deck overlooking the lake and stairs going down to a dock. The Wells Town Beach is within walking distance of the house. There are 2 kayaks, 2 children's kayaks, a canoe, peddle boat and an SUP. Paddles and life jackets are stored under the porch, in the basement or in the house. There's a firepit and two charcoal grills. There is firewood on the side of the house and by the shed.
The renters are expected to leave the house as clean as when they arrived.
Please no head first diving from the dock. Water levels may vary with rainfall.

Area Attractions
Hiking/skiing
There are an abundance of hiking trails in the area. Auger Falls, 5 miles north on Rte. 30, is a short hike with a spectacular water fall. Old growth forest, called the Pine Orchard, is located at the end of the Windfall Rd. accessible across the lake from Griffin Rd. West River Rd. is a mostly unpaved rd. leading to an old hunting lodge called the Whitehouse. There is a suspension bridge that crosses the West Branch of the Sacandaga River. It is unplowed in Winter and great for x-country skiing. The road is not open to vehicles after snowfall. Lapland Lake x-country ski center is located about 10 miles south of Wells in the town of Benson. Gore Mountain Ski Area is located about a half hour across Rte 8. Oak Mountain Ski Bowl( smaller area) is 15 minutes north on Rte. 30 in Speculator.

Hiking Safety
It is very e​asy to get lost if you go off trail in the Adirondacks. Be sure that you carry a compass, GPS, map and provisions. Make sure you have a headlamp.
Hunting season begins in mid-September. You MUST wear hunter orange so you can be seen while hiking.

Restaurants
The Alpine Grille, 5 minutes south on Rte. 30 is great. Logan’s, the Melody Lodge, and The Speculator Inn are all 15 minutes away in Speculator. The Wells Edge Deli on Rte.30 and is near our road. The Overrock Diner on Rte. 30 in Wells is open on various days and hours. Food shopping is available at Charlie John’s Market in Speculator.

Additional Information

​Garbage pickup is early Monday morning .They don't collect recyclables. I will dispose of garbage/recyclables at the end of your stay for those that miss the Monday collection.

There are 4 outside facing cameras. 3 will be turned off and the 4th facing the driveway should be unplugged upon your arrival .The plug is on a power strip under the dining room window clearly marked with masking tape.

The key to the house is in a lockbox by the front door; lakeside . I will advise you of the combination upon completion of payment.

The water is town water from the town well. Pure and clean.

Addditional Info

The wood stove handle that controls the main baffle is located on the left rear of stove. Make sure the handle is horizontal to be open and pushed down to close it for a longer burn.​

Directions


 The most direct route to the house is to take exit 27 from I-90 (Amsterdam) and make a right onto Rte. 30 north to Wells.

​The drive time from NYC/Long Island is approximately 4 plus hours. Take the NY State Thruway, I-87 from the NYC area ( or take the Taconic Parkway ) to I-90 West and take exit #27, Amsterdam. Make a right onto Rte. 30 N. Follow Rte. 30 N all the way to Wells, approximately 1 hour. Go thru the Town of Wells and after crossing over the Rte.30 bridge, make the first right turn onto Little Amsterdam Rd. The house is the 7th house on the right; #116 Little Amsterdam Rd.
